Collection Archive Prints

Archive Prints is a collection of fabrics that are produced by Morris & Co. Whereas some of the works are restyling of existing drawings, some others are original creations by William Morris himself. The common point is that they were all inspired by objects with an artistic charm that moved the designer. Linen, curtains, embroideries, hand-prints or tapestries touched the soul of Morris who adapted them into textiles. Most of the patterns feature floral drawings; trees, flowers, fruits or grapevine that are sometimes completed by other natural elements, such as birds. Although some graphics were sometimes reviewed for a more modern touch, this selection mostly extols authenticity. As an example, shades of color may be used for the creation of an aged patina. Subtle textures may be also added to make the modern prints look more like ones of ancient times.
