Morris and Co

Morris Fabric Compendium I II & III is a collection of designs that knew how to stand the test of time. Most of them are iconic wallpapers of the late 1800's that were adapted into fabrics. Perfect for blinds, cushions, drapes or upholstery tasks, they fit all domestic usages. Designers like Kathleen Kersey, John Henry Dearle, William Morris or May Morris created them; some of them had to be reproduced by Morris & Co from samples found in their archives. Everlastingly fashionable, they bear floral patterns in all their forms: thorny branches, curling stems, intertwined foliage, individual plants in bloom, flower heads or whole country garden are depicted on these textiles. To personalize the drawings, a large palette of techniques were used: symmetry, multilayering, spiraling, strong horizontal repeats, diagonal arrangements or zigzaggings. Color effects are also present with the use of contrasting grounds, naturalistic tones that induce reverie or pale ones that soften angular traits.
