Olivier Morel in search of the invisible



Existential questions are at the heart of Olivier Morel's approach, and he eventually entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris after studying quantum physics and the theory of black holes. To bring his paintings to life, Olivier Morel, who is also an engraver, sculptor and illustrator, methodically goes through phases of observation and research, using photos, drawings and models. Affirming the purity of form and synthesizing space by progressively eliminating superfluous elements, these are the actions that lead to the finished version of a work. The vibrant colors and impulse of gesture aim to convey the energy emanating from these mountain landscapes or forest compositions. Olivier Morel sees each work as a step on the path to knowledge, a tool contributing to the quest for the invisible.
