Minimalist Swedish rugs

Based in Stockholm, Layered was founded by Malin Glemme in 2015. It all began when she decided to design her own rug. She created her own design and had it woven by a master weaver in Bhadohi, India – a place renowned for its craftsmanship and hand-knotted rugs since the 16th century. A Swedish magazine featured it, and orders were so numerous that Malin launched her own brand. Layered received the Elle Deco Accessory of the Year award. The international press has highlighted the brand, including the New York Times, Elle and Vogue, to name but a few. Malin Glemme continues to explore the interplay between art, fashion and interior design. Layered pushes boundaries by collaborating with influential contemporary designers, including sculptor Bella Rune, glass artist Åsa Jungelius and renowned Scandinavian interior designer Lotta Agaton.

Layered combines traditional craftsmanship with a commitment to sustainability by using exclusively natural or recycled materials to create durable products. Its rugs, handcrafted in India and Greece by partner artisans, reflect time-honored expertise while adhering to strict social and environmental standards. The brand is certified by international labels such as Goodweave, GRS, and Oeko-Tex, which guarantee the absence of child labor, the use of recycled fibers, and the absence of harmful substances. It is also committed to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting responsible production, from raw materials to the finished product.
