Runner Rug by Anni Albers Christopher Farr

Major figure in textile design, Anni Albers was a pupil of the unmissable Gunta Stölzl, workshop Master at the Bauhaus, before being a teacher herself. Nourished with contemporary art and architecture, expert in weaving, she experimented with unconventional methods and materials. While teaching at Black Mountain College in the United States, after the closure of the Bauhaus, she produced genuine textile art pieces combining traditions, sharp design and avant-garde techniques that led to establish the basics of textile design as we know it today. Precious and hypnotic, Runner rug is adapted from a runner design created by the artist in 1959, and produced in association with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.
