Unprecedented figure in interior design from the 1930s, Madeleine Castaing characterized a free and poetic eclectic style. Contrary to all fashions and with assumed extravagance, her antique and decoration boutique, rue Jacob in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, brought together art works and personal designs and constituted the theater of her style of singular associations. Her clients, Françoise Sagan, Yves Saint-Laurent, André Malraux and even Jean Cocteau testify to the talent of that woman who said she makes houses like other poems.
Codimat Collection, custodian of its archives, restores in this collection the works of this legendary unclassifiable antiquarian-decorator with an intact panache.
