The Many Faces of Red by Josef Albers Rug Christopher Farr

Painter, teacher and art theorist, Master at the Bauhaus school, Josef Albers was famous for his explorations on colors and revolutionized the art of seeing. When the Bauhaus closed in 1933, he continued his teaching career, at Yale in particular, while pursuing personal artistic work. In 1963, he launched what would become the most influential exploration of the art, science, psychology and magic of color to the world. The rug The Many Faces of Red illustrates his experiments on the interaction of colors between them and variations of the same shade. This work is faithfully reproduced with hand-dyed woolen threads by Christopher Farr Editions in consultation with Joseph and Anni Albers Foundation.
