Study Rug by Anni Albers Christopher Farr

Initiated in weaving at the Bauhaus, Anni Albers was quickly an expert, becoming herself a teacher in this avant-garde school, and is today an essential reference in the art of textile. After the closure of the Bauhaus she moved to the United-States where she taught at Black Mountain College and set up an experimental weaving workshop. At the same time, she pursued her artistic explorations combining techniques, materials and art, developing innovative textiles on both technique and design. Remarkably modern, Study rug, made in association with Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, is based on an Anni Albers gouache preserved at the MOMA in New-York, originally designed in 1926 for a wall hanging project.
