Equivocal Rug by Josef Albers Christopher Farr

Painter and art teacher, Josef Albers was an emblematic figure of the Bauhaus where he taught as a "master" while developing his personal work. Later, when he moved to the United States after the closure of the Bauhaus, his research led him to a series of paintings depicting 3 or 4 concentric squares in different colors. Initiator of Op Art, he investigates the interaction of colours with one another to explore optical effects in this series called "Homage to the Square". From this portfolio Equivocal rug is the adaptation of a 1962 drawing faithfully reproduced with hand-dyed wool by Christopher Farr Editions in collaboration with the Joseph and Anni Albers Foundation.
