The Earth Collection is the fruit of a close collaboration between the designer Eun Il Lee and the Nobilis brand. It uses cogon fibre, also known as kunai or blady grass. The design of the fabrics is the result of the use of different and original yarns and weaving techniques using a range of materials, particularly cotton or silk combined with rattan, abaca and plant fibres (bamboo, cogon, Kans grass, bacnoc), or metallic or leather threads and glass beads, paper.... The weaving of these high-end fabrics is usually carried out on a hand loom, which gives the fabric an exceptional and luxurious appearance. The factory is based in the Philippines, with 60 traditional looms, and guarantees the production and long-term employment for Filipino families. Other original effects, such as "flocking" and "dévoré" are obtained by artisanal techniques perfected in Japan. PLEASE NOTE: the highly innovative appearance of the blends of materials and the variety of different insertions in the weave are only made possible by the use of backstrap looms which produce very small quantities of between 0.8 and 2.5 metres per day. Hand weaving doesn't have the same regularity as mechanical weaving, but these irregularities are what make it so charming.
