Pinton, artisan heritage and sustainable practices

Their workshop, located in Felletin in the historic tapestry region, is a place where art and technique meet to give life to exceptional creations. Founded in 1867 in Creuse by Olivier Pinton, the Pinton factory was born from the bringing together of various trades dedicated to the production of carpets and tapestry. The Pinton family has been able to adapt over the generations to changes in the market. Carpet merchants and representatives of the Bournaret house, Olivier's descendants settled in Paris at the end of the 19th century. Then a marriage with a notable from Aubusson brought the family a documentary background and a valuable network of customers. The post-war period saw a renaissance of Aubusson tapestry under the leadership of Jean Lurçat, who introduced the numbered cardboard technique, facilitating faithful execution and speed of weaving.

The process begins with a rigorous selection of materials, notably French wool, renowned for its fineness and durability. Each piece is then designed with particular attention to detail, whether through point weaving or hand tufting. Pinton also collaborates with renowned artists and designers to create unique works that combine tradition and modernity, notably thanks to Jacques Adnet, an influential architect and designer.

Pinton creates exceptional rugs in its manufactory in Felletin, France. Its CSR approach is based on environmental protection, workplace well-being, ethics and responsible purchasing. The company promotes short supply chains, the recovery of textile offcuts and improved energy efficiency. Its craftsmanship is recognised by the Living Heritage Company label (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant — EPV), awarded in 2009.

Pinton has also received an EcoVadis Silver Medal, with a score of 64%, placing it among the top 25% of companies assessed at that time. The manufactory also states that it has implemented tools inspired by the ISO 14001 standard, without claiming ISO 14001 certification. Finally, some of its skills and products are associated with the Geographical Indications “Aubusson Rug” and “Aubusson Tapestry”.

An approach based on quality, the transmission of expertise and continuous improvement, without making broad environmental claims about all its products.
