Métaphores anchors its craftsmanship in a logic of transmission rather than in the conventional rhetoric of ecological urgency. The house brings together two workshops with century-old expertise: Verel de Belval, for furnishing silk woven in the Lyon region, and Le Crin, a workshop for hand-weaving horsehair located in Challes, in the Sarthe — the only workshop in the world to keep this entirely manual gesture alive. Le Crin holds the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label, an official recognition distinguishing outstanding artisanal know-how in France.

This responsibility plays out first in the choice of materials: Métaphores favours natural, noble fibres, rigorously selected, as part of a stated commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its collections. As a member of the Hermès group's textile division, the brand aligns with the requirements the group has formalised for its suppliers and partners since 2021 through a CSR brief, covering in particular human rights, biodiversity, energy and water.
