Collection Montsoreau

The Monsoreau collection by Osborne and Little stands out with its romantic embroideries and vibrant decorative prints. Designer Nina Campbell draws inspiration from the historical novel "Dame de Monsoreau" by French playwright Alexandre Dumas and the landscape of the Loire Valley in France. The patterns are named after the main character of the novel and the flower-filled parks surrounding the Montsoreau castle. The motifs feature various floral fantasies that influenced the 18th century, such as the Chintz pattern, the trend of large petals on sinuous stems in the 1780s, or the delicate twig-like flowers on a light background in the 1790s. The artist also combines inflorescences from different species on the same branch to evoke the significance given to the language of flowers during that era.
