The Gwilen company takes its name from the longest Breton river, the Vilaine, along which Yann, the founder, grew up. In the 1970s, a flood barrier was built on this river causing its silting. Today, it is estimated that nearly 100,000m3 of sediment would need to be extracted each year for the estuary to preserve its natural appearance. To participate in this safeguarding, Gwilen has developed a handcrafted manufacturing process to transform these sediments into a new resource. Available in a wide range of colors, this bold material responds to growing demands to reduce environmental impact.
