Thibault drew his inspiration from the Jacobean floral motif for the Hill Garden wallpaper. The flowers are reminiscent of the English Renaissance of the 17th century, with their generous shapes, stylised leaves and bright colours. Birds also feature in the scene, accentuating the idea of lightness and freshness evoked by the design.
