The Gwilen house takes its name from the longest Breton river, the Vilaine, along which Yann, the founder, grew up. In the 1970s, a dam was built on this river causing it to silt up. Today, it is estimated that nearly 100,000m3 of sediment would need to be extracted each year for the estuary to preserve its natural appearance. To participate in this preservation, Gwilen has developed an artisanal manufacturing process to transform these sediments into a new resource. Available in a wide range of colors, this bold material responds to growing demands to reduce environmental impact.
