A finely represented bird in front of a rainbow, the ripple suggested by a few lines and a faded-looking sky forms this superb refined composition. Cuckoo in Flight is a decorative wall panel printed with a print motif from the Edo period. Its luminosity and contemporary dynamism act like breathing in a room. The original work, by Hokusai Katsushika, is kept at the Guimet Museum in Paris.
