The Macherio headquarters, designed by Piero Lissoni in 2011, exemplifies Glas Italia’s identity. In this piece, glass interacts with steel and concrete to create a luminous composition. The open spaces enhance natural light and emphasize transparency. In 2024, this vision was recognized with two awards at the Archiproducts Design Awards, an international prize that honors the most innovative achievements in contemporary design. At the same time, the company is actively reflecting on its environmental impact, with a focus on the energy efficiency of its processes.

Glas Italia bases its eco-responsible approach on the intrinsic nature of its material of choice: glass, an inert mineral element that is infinitely recyclable. The company emphasizes a focus on mastering its technical processes rather than extensive environmental communication.

At its Macherio workshops, the brand limits its environmental footprint through a glass supply produced almost exclusively in Italy, water-based lacquers free of solvents and harmful substances, and a water purification and recirculation system that runs through all the machines used in production. Equipped with a photovoltaic production site that avoids the emission of more than 57 tons of CO2 per year, Glas Italia also grinds part of its glass waste into grit to reintegrate it into new creations, as seen in the Simoon and Babar collections designed by Patricia Urquiola. The brand thus combines high-end design with engineering choices that are measured and consistent with its communication, though it has not yet published a detailed CSR report or environmental certifications.
