Portrait Nani MarquinaA family-owned company and a pioneer in the creation of contemporary rugs, nanimarquina is constantly seeking out new artisanal techniques and ways to use innovative materials. New Zealand wool, silk, and felt, as well as polyester and recycled rubber, nettle fiber, and mohair, are used to create these exceptional rugs. To ensure the diversity of its designs, nanimarquina collaborates with local and international designers such as Jaime Hayon, Ilse Crawford, Inga Sempe, Begüm Cana Özgür, Ariadna Miquel, and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

Thinking globally” is one of the brand’s core values. nanimarquina strives to make a small difference in the lives of people living in the places where its rugs are made, helping to strengthen the local economy. Nanimarquina goes even further by partnering with organizations like Care and Fair, for example, to support the development of design schools in countries where access to education is quite limited. The environment is also a major concern for the brand, which adheres to three key principles: “reuse, reduce, recycle.” The most recent milestone in Nanimarquina’s sustainability journey is the achievement of The Climate Label certification. In addition to establishing an annual reduction plan that allows the brand to continue auditing and reducing its CO₂ emissions year after year, Nanimarquina participates in an offset program consisting of two independent projects certified by the Gold Standard (a non-governmental project aimed at reducing emissions and achieving other climate-related goals). These initiatives, located in India, the country where Nanimarquina established its brand through craftsmanship, ensure that the company’s net emissions are zero.
