The Futami Fishing panel takes its pattern from a Japanese print from the archives of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux and exhibited at the National Museum of Asian Arts - Guimet. Signed Kôgetsudô, the original work features a whaling scene. Shown in the foreground with great detail, a traditional Japanese house welcomes characters dressed in kimonos playing music, chatting, observing in the distance the boats and whales depicted in black in the background. This covering with graphic design and warm colors brings character to spaces.
