Silhouettes Original is a proposal by Papier Français in collaboration with the BNF. This wallpaper was first printed in 1799 by the Duserre et Cie factory. It shows scenes of daily life at the time.

"The General Comptroller of Finance, Monsieur de Silhouette, had the curious habit of drawing profiles of his guests on the walls of his castle. He had been unable to carry out his reforms. At court, everyone laughed. His reforms are nothing but poorly traced shadows! To the Silhouette! Evil tongues, unknowingly and maliciously, made this brave Stephen of Silhouette popular for posterity!"
