The Marco Polo collection, published by Gastón y Daniela, is inspired by Marco Polo's tales of his travels in Arabia, Persia, China and India in the 13th century. This Venetian merchant left his native Venice in 1271 to embark on a 24-year odyssey to the far-flung lands of the Far East.
The fabrics visit ancient Asia and bring to life the tales of the famous explorer. They pay homage to the ancestral methods of weaving, spinning and dyeing practiced there, while at the same time bringing a great deal of innovation. Textures and patterns, imitating ancient fabrics or tapestries, display a certain exoticism imbued with a rustic touch. Patterns range from geometric shapes to ethnic graphics, stripes, flowers, suzani and scallops. The publisher also offers hard-wearing textiles made from thick fibers woven using a variety of techniques.
