Weaving a terrestrial memory with Innate

Fiona Spence and Wanda Jelmini embody the founding forces of Innate. They met in 2002, when the company Spence & Lyda, led by Fiona Spence, became the exclusive distributor of Missoni Home in Australia. At that time, Wanda Jelmini, a major figure in textile design, created for the Milanese house. From this first collaboration, a professional relationship was born, based on friendship and aesthetic understanding. This complicity resurfaced years later with a desire to reconnect with the essential.

Their common approach gave rise to a collection with a strong identity. Cushions, upholstery, blankets, and towels evoke a poetic vision of the Australian landscape. Guided by the paintings of the painter Luke Sciberras, the designers translate the energy of the elements and the softness of life into textiles. Sky, sea, light, and earth are invited into the fabrics, like so many fragments of nature anchored in the everyday space.

The brand shapes a reinterpreted Australian aesthetic. Each model reflects a sensory immersion and evokes the fauna, flora, and memory of the soil. The choice of raw fibers, linen, cotton, and wool, gives the creations a singular texture.

Innate is part of an approach centered on material and gesture. Each piece becomes an invitation to inhabit the space in an organic and deep calm.
