Runner Rug by Anni Albers Christopher Farr

A leading figure in textile design, Anni Albers studied under the influential Gunta Stölzl, a workshop master at the Bauhaus, before becoming a teacher herself. Inspired by contemporary art and architecture, and a weaving expert, she experimented with unconventional methods and materials. While teaching at Black Mountain College in the United States, after the closure of the Bauhaus, she produced authentic textile works, combining tradition, cutting-edge design, and cutting-edge techniques, helping lay the foundations of textile design as we know it today. Precious and hypnotic, the Runner rug is based on a runner drawing created by the artist in 1959 and developed in collaboration with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.
