Archive Weaves pays tribute to handwoven jacquards and tapestry fabrics produced by Morris & Co. This collection proposes restylings of classic designs as well as reproductions that are entirely faithful to the originals. The iconic models that inspired the textiles date back to the mid and late 19th-century. Thanks to a mix of modernity, formality, and refinement, some of the drawings are so successful they are regularly re-released. Floral patterns arranged with style and taste make the success of this selection: acanthus leaves, intertwining tree branches, framed flowers, pomegranates and lemons share the spotlight. To bring cachet to these creations, several techniques can be observed. Among them, the use of various types of background is notable. They may be composed of several layers, contrasting with the foreground for a well-balanced ensemble or colored with sober tones for a chic effect.
