The Grand Palace wallpaper, in single-colour or polychrome variants, is a Thibault design inspired by the oriental landscape motifs on the Toiles de Jouy. The figures illustrate palaces with roofs decorated with tsien-nien, curving upwards. They overlook a stream lined with weeping trees, on which imaginary birds and butterflies alight.
