For ten generations, Tassinari & Chatel has carried on silk weaving on hand looms and mechanical looms, passed down without interruption to this day. This artisanal continuity is officially recognized by the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label, a French state distinction that rewards mastery of a rare, territory-rooted craft and its transmission over time.

This longevity is in itself a response to textile overconsumption: Tassinari & Chatel fabrics are designed to dress interiors for decades, as shown by the restorations carried out at Versailles, Compiègne and Fontainebleau using patterns more than three centuries old. An upholstery fabric built to last mechanically reduces replacement frequency, and therefore the overall impact across the product's life cycle.

Manufacturing remains based in France, in the historic Lyon workshop, ensuring full traceability and a short production chain, in contrast to the relocated, opaque supply chains typical of lower-end furnishing textiles. Choosing a Tassinari & Chatel fabric therefore means favoring a product built to last, made in France by artisans who carry on a recognized craft, rather than a standardized environmental pitch.
