The Under Way 1963 fabric, designed by Dedar for the Contemporary Archives collection, features an abstract pattern with sinuous lines on a geometric background. The jacquard combines cut-pile wool, cotton satin, and jute, giving the design an almost pictorial relief. This free trajectory evokes improvised calligraphy. The dense and textured weave is reminiscent of manual work despite its loom production.
