Helena Fabric Morris and Co

Helena design, presented on silk jacquard in 1891, was created by John Henry Dearl in 1890. The fabric featured a lattice of acanthus leaves punctuated with fritillary bracts, against a background decorated with small tulips. The figures, reproduced by Morris & Co, are digitally printed on cotton linen. The new colours show more vibrancy, thus accentuating the play of symmetry.
