Verel de Belval, one of the richest archives in the world

The Verel de Belval furnishing fabric collections accurately translate this heritage using a vast weaving vocabulary, the quality of which is consistent. With Le Crin, Verel de Belval is integrated into Métaphores and is part of a precious tradition that has become rare.

Verel de Belval anchors its craftsmanship in a logic of transmission rather than in the conventional rhetoric of ecological urgency. A reference name in Lyonnaise silk-weaving, the house has been reinventing the finest damasks, lampas and taffetas for curtains, upholstery and wall coverings since 1912. Part of the tight-knit circle of Lyon's silk houses, it draws on an archive spanning four centuries of textile history, one of the richest of its kind in the world. This commitment to preserving and evolving heritage has earned it the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label, an official recognition distinguishing outstanding artisanal know-how in France.

This responsibility plays out first in the mastery of materials and techniques: Verel de Belval combines exceptional fibres and traditional weaving methods with a constant drive for innovation, rather than simply reproducing a fixed heritage. Part of the Hermès group's textile division alongside Métaphores, the house aligns with the requirements the group has formalised for its suppliers and partners since 2021 through a CSR brief, covering in particular human rights, biodiversity, energy and water.

This artisanal Lyon heritage and this living transmission of centuries-old expertise define Verel de Belval's social and environmental responsibility.
