The best rugs designers Portrait of Nani Marquina

A family business, a pioneer in the creation of contemporary rugs, Nanimarquina is always searching for new craft techniques and new uses for innovative materials. New Zealand wool, silk, felt, but also recycled polyester and rubber, nettle fibres and mohair are included in the composition of these exceptional rugs. Nani Marquina works with local and international designers such as Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Tord Boontje and Javier Mariscal, to ensure a diversity of designs. "Think global" is one of the brand's main values. Nanimarquina endeavours to improve the life of people living in the places where the rugs are made, contributing to strengthening the local economies. Nanimarquina goes even further in its commitment to partnerships with organisations such as Care&Fare, encouraging for example the development of design schools in countries where access to education is limited. The environment is also a major preoccupation for the brand, with its three key principles: "reuse, reduce, recycle". The most recent step in Nanimarquina's sustainability approach is the award of Climate Neutral certification. In addition to establishing an annual reduction plan that enables them to continue auditing and reducing CO2 emissions year after year, the brand participates in an offsetting program that consists of two independent Gold Standard-certified projects (a non-governmental project that aims to reduce emissions, and other climate-friendly objectives). These initiatives, located in India, where Nanimarquina established its brand through craftsmanship, guarantee that the company's net emissions are zero.
